“Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”  Matthew 18:19

The promise is that whatever we ask for we will receive.  And metaphysically in the verse above the two that must be in agreement is our head and our heart – our mind and our emotions.

1. But we do have to ask for what we want. Sometimes we aren’t clear about what we want.  We need to know specifically what we want.  Unity minister, Rev. Edwene Gaines always says that you don’t tell Amazon to just send you something – you tell them exactly what you want them to send. Our job is to be clear about what we want.

2. We have to believe that we are going to receive what we are asking for.  We can’t ask for health in one breath and then talk about how sick we are or ask for money and complain about how little money we have. When we really believe our head and heart are in alignment.

3.  Both steps one and two are part of the preparation to receive.  They are part of making ourselves open and receptive to that which we want.  The other part of preparing to receive is to pay attention to any inner guidance we receive – and sometimes the guidance comes from outside.  If we are prompted to do something, then we need to do it.

I would like to encourage each of you to watch what you attach to your ‘I Am.’ Watch what you say and think.  If you hear yourself saying ‘I am tired,’ ‘I am broke,’ or ‘I am sick,’ think about what else you might say instead.  You might say ‘my body needs rest,’ ‘I am grateful for the money coming my way,” or “my body might want an aspirin.’

We are responsible for what we ask for and claim with our I am.  When we catch ourselves, we can change our language and eventually we will stop hooking our ‘I am’ to that which does not serve us.
